How we verify local people — and what we don't claim
You're trusting someone with a trip far from home. Before we ask about your dates, here's how we decide whom to work with — and exactly what we do and don't claim.
Our current status, plainly
Mongolia Relay is a young business. As of the date on this page, we are building our network of local guides, drivers and operators and have not yet published any individual supplier profiles. We have no Mongolia Relay customer reviews yet, and we won't show any until real travelers have given them.
What we check
Before introducing someone to a traveler, we aim to check as many of these as are relevant:
- Identity and business — who they are, how long they've operated, how they can be contacted.
- Direct communication — we speak with them ourselves; responsiveness and clarity matter.
- Vehicle — what they drive, its condition and capacity, whether they own or reliably access it.
- Regional experience — real experience on the routes in question.
- Language — the actual guide's English (or other language), not just the salesperson's.
- Track record — reviews across several independent sources over time, and references.
- Pricing clarity — clear inclusions and exclusions.
- Professionalism — how they handle questions, changes and problems.
- Traveler feedback — after trips we arrange, we ask for honest feedback.
What "verified" means on this site
We verify what we can. When a page says we've verified something, it will say what we checked and when. "Verified" is never a vague badge, and it's never a guarantee: people change, vehicles age, and things go wrong even with good teams.
Reviews
- We never invent reviews or change their meaning.
- We clearly distinguish Mongolia Relay customer reviews, reviews of a supplier, and third-party reviews (e.g. on other platforms).
- We don't imply we've arranged trips we haven't.
Prices
- Reference prices on our guides are third-party published prices, with the source and the date we checked them.
- We label indicative ranges as indicative. Prices vary based on itinerary and supplier.
- Your quote shows the total price, inclusions, exclusions and payment structure. Our fee is included in that total.
Independence
We don't accept payment to be featured in our guides. Our income comes from trips we help arrange — which is why we'd rather send you away with the right advice than sell you a trip you don't need. Our anti-bias rule: if a driver alone, self-driving or an independent trip suits you better, we'll say so.
Honest limitations
- We can't eliminate risk — Mongolia is remote and conditions change.
- Information on our pages can go out of date; check the dates shown, and confirm time-sensitive facts (visas, festival dates, flight schedules) before you book.
- Our published guides are researched from sources listed on each page; where we add first-hand knowledge in future, we'll say so.
