How Mongolia Relay works
A simple, human process. No accounts, no booking engine — a conversation, a realistic plan, the right local people and clear written terms.
1. Tell us what you want to do
Use the trip request form, email or WhatsApp. A few lines is enough: roughly when, how many days, who's travelling, and what matters to you. If you're not sure yet, say so.
2. We talk it through
We reply within 48 hours. We'll ask a few questions — driving tolerance, comfort needs, budget range — and be honest about what fits. Sometimes the right answer is "you only need a driver" or "you could do this independently". We'll say that.
3. We design the route and match local people
We turn your answers into a realistic day-by-day plan with honest driving times, then speak with local people suited to it — considering region, vehicle, language, experience, group, dates and personality. Not simply the cheapest.
4. You receive a written quote
Before you commit to anything, you get a written quote with:
- the itinerary and dates,
- the total price and what it includes and excludes,
- the payment structure (for example, a deposit and the remainder),
- who operates the trip — the local driver, guide or operator,
- cancellation terms and important assumptions.
You can ask questions, change things or walk away.
5. Your trip runs — and we stay in touch
The local team delivers your trip. We coordinate beforehand, stay reachable during the trip, and ask for your honest feedback afterwards. With your permission, feedback helps other travelers and helps us choose who we work with.
Why use us instead of booking directly?
Booking directly with a local operator is often cheaper and perfectly reasonable if you're confident in your choice. What we add: help deciding what kind of trip you actually need, a route that respects distances, a careful choice of local people based on more than a website, and one accountable point of contact. Our fee is included in the quoted total.

Questions about the process
Who actually runs my trip?
A local Mongolian driver, driver-guide, guide or operator. Your written quote names who operates your trip and what they provide. Mongolia Relay designs the trip with you, makes the introduction and coordinates.
Do I have to book through you after asking a question?
No. Asking is free and without obligation. Many travelers use our guides and a conversation to plan an independent trip — that is fine.
How do I pay?
The payment structure is set out in your quote before you commit: typically a deposit, with the remainder paid according to the agreed terms, which may include paying the local supplier directly. We do not take payment on this website.
What if something goes wrong during the trip?
Your quote explains who to contact and what happens in common situations (vehicle problems, illness, weather). We stay reachable during your trip and help coordinate with the local team.
How quickly do you reply?
We aim to reply within 48 hours. A real person reads every message.
